The Story

Ugh...

How annoyingly bad I have been at updating my blog!  And with such tales I have to tell!!

Well, I'm sorry I have been extremely busy with work and when I'm not working I've found myself wedding planning.  Now that it's all kind of mellowed out I will tell the story.

The Proposal ~

Well like I shared a couple of posts ago Chad and I went to Hot Springs, Arkansas for our Spring Break vacation.  I had only been to Hot Springs once and it was only to drive through on our way to the lake but I couldn't wait to go back because it is such a cute little city.  It's the only city I've ever seen where you can be in the middle of downtown and then walk a few paces and be hiking in a national forest.  I highly recommend it for an inexpensive getaway or a girls weekend.

I also want to highly recommend the place where we stayed; it's called Panther Valley Ranch and it was about a 10 minute drive from downtown but I loved getting away into the country.  We had the most adorable cabin called the "Jungle Suite" (Chad had a lot of fun with that one) that was bigger than most of the apartments I've lived in and came complete with a gas fireplace and a two-person jacuzzi tub.  Loved it!

After we checked in Chad suggested that we go checkout Garvan Woodland Gardens.  I was excited that he suggested that because that was what I was looking forward to the entire trip and I was scared that he would poo poo the idea so much that we wouldn't go.  The garden was amazing!!  Though they weren't blooming yet they told us they have planted over 100,000 tulip bulbs.  Can you imagine!?

The one thing that was blooming was the daffodils and they were everywhere.  After we walked through the entire garden Chad asked me what my favorite place was and I told him it was daffodil hill.  We happened to pass it on our way back towards the front and he said "let's go up there" to which I groaned and said ok.

When we got up there this was our view:

After that this is basically how are conversation went:

  • Chad - I love you

  • Kyley - I love you

  • Chad - How much do you love me?

  • Kyley - A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.

  • Chad - Can I have a peck?

  • Kyley - Ok

  • Chad - Can I have a hug around the neck?

  • Kyley - Ok

  • Chad - Can I have a bushel?

  • Kyley - Ok, I don't know how to give you a bushel.

  • Chad - I'll take another hug around the neck
When I went to hug him he whipped around and got down on one knee and proposed.  It was very surreal and now it's even a little bit blurry.  It's funny how the most important times in my life are always so fuzzy.  I guess I just wrapped up in everything.

The Wedding ~

Well, if you didn't notice by the little countdown thingy we are eloping.  This is where we will say our I dos:

This is Henderson State Park in Destin, Florida.

I have gotten all sorts of responses when we've told others that we are eloping (meaning me, Chad, the officiate and the photographer will be the only ones there) but I just politely nod my head and act like I care but I really don't.  Chad and I decided to do what's best for us and there were so many factors that lead us to this point but in the end we're doing what makes us happy.

You'd be amazed how easy it is to plan a wedding in this fashion.  We're basically done and that's exactly how I wanted it.

The big day is June 6th!
